Jose Antonio Baz LombaBiography

Jose Antonio has a Bachelor’s Degree in Chemistry, followed by a MSc in Advanced Analytical Chemistry in the University of Santiago de Compostela in 2012. He wrote his thesis about the “Synthesis, Characterization and Application of Molecular Imprinted Polymers for micro-solid-Phase Extraction of Cannabinoids from Urine” using a LC-MS/MS for the analysis.

Before starting his PhD as a Marie Curie Research Fellow at NIVA (Norwegian Institute for Water Research), he took an internship at the IVM (Institute for Environmental Studies, Amsterdam) in which he contributed to the development of a research project focused in the effect of pesticides on the metabolome of marine algaes by HPLC-microTOF.

Passive Samplers for Sewage Epidemiology

This project will focus on the development of robust passive sampling technology for the long-term monitoring of sewage biomarkers.

An uptake model for polar passive samplers, based on specific physico-chemical properties of target biomarkers, will be developed. The effect of sampler fouling during exposure remains poorly described for polar passive samplers and will be evaluated through in situ calibration.
