Zhugen YangBiography

Zhugen Yang is a Marie Curie Fellow Experienced Researcher in Biosensors in the Department of Chemistry at the University of Bath, UK. Before moving to Bath, Zhugen worked with Professor S.R. Elliott as a Research Associate in Department of Chemistry, University of Cambridge, developing cantilever sensor for cancer biomarkers detection.

Zhugen earned his doctorate from Ecole Centrale de Lyon (ECL, France, 2012), MSci from Sun Yat-sen University (SYSU,China 2009) and BEng from Harbin Institute of Technology (HIT, China, 2006. His PhD work was performed in the Chemistry and Nanobiotechnology group (Dr E. Souteyrand), Lyon Institute of Nanotechnology (INL), CNRS UMR 5270, entitled “3D-microstructured protein chip for early cancer diagnosis”. His research interests include surface modification for biochip/biosensor, label and label-free sensing technology, protein microarray for cancer diagnosis, modification of polymers and polymeric composites/blends.

Multichannel biosensors for human biomarkers

We proposed to develop a multichannel biosensor for human biomarker detection based on label-free sensing technology, aiming to optimise immobilization and recognition parameters to improve the analytical performance to measure human biomarkers in sewage.
